The Midland Junior Varsity boys lacrosse team won their first outing of the season Wednesday evening in a dramatic 9-8 match-up against host Orchard Lake St. Mary’s.

Despite the rainy conditions, Midland scored two goals in the final two minutes with the game-winner coming with only :20 seconds left in regulation.

Midland scoring was led by 4 goals from Sepp Pitt. Cal Stearns added 3 goals and 3 assists. Tucker Pomranky scored a goal and Ryan Pomranky had 2 assists to go with the game-winning goal.

Scott Sommer (goalie) kept Midland in the game making 13 saves against a talented and relentless OLSM squad. Cole Rynalski and Xavier St. John dominated the face-off battle winning 11 of 17 at the ‘X’.

Head Coach, Chad Stearns, commented, “I am very happy with how our team fought until the final horn. They dominated the ground ball game, kept competing and gritted out a great win against a notable program. I couldn’t be more proud of our team.”

The Midland JV Lacrosse team welcomes Davison on April 4th at 5:30pm in the Midland Community Stadium.
