Girls HS teams defeat Davison and Lake Orion

With 2 more wins this week, the girls Varsity Lacrosse team moves to 13-1 and a 10th place ranking in the State for D1 girls lacrosse (secondhalf.mhsaa.com).  Thursday's rainy and cold weather also brought the Davison team to the MHS stadium where the Midland Co-op girls team won 18-3.  Ten players scored for the Cavaliers: Emma Murphy, Gabrielle Wilson, Grace Wilson, Chelsea Long, Sofia Maher, Margaret Gandy, Emma Rekeweg, Renee Mulvaney, Jordan Malace and Morgan Goudie,

On Friday both the JV and Varsity teams traveled to Lake Orion.  The JV team was upset 9-7 but had a great effort with no substitutions due to injuries.  Eleanor Haycock was in goal and made 8 saves.  Scoring for the JV were:  Emmy Mackenzie with 3, Erica Grenesko with 2, Sofia Maher and Rachel Applegate each added one goal.

The Varsity girls defeated the Lake Orion Dragons by a score of 19-9 led by Emma Murphy scoring 11 goals.  Jordan Malace added 5 goals and 2 assists, Gabrielle Wilson scored one goal and assisted on 4 more, Grace Wilson and Morgan Goudie each added a goal and an assist.  Ella Lane was in goal for the Cavaliers and made 12 saves, most on free position shots to help lead the team to victory.  In all, the Midland girls made 79% of their shots on goal, had 17 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.

The JV and Varsity teams will play an SVL match up on Tuesday May 7th at Grand Blanc High School, followed by a home match up on Friday the 10th against Fenton, and Saturday they will travel to Ann Arbor Skyline High School.
