Collin Erickson (Dow High School)

1.  When you started playing and why? I started playing lacrosse in 8th grade because I saw how much my brother was enjoying it. I also hadn’t really loved my previous experiences in spring sports and wanted the physicality that came in lacrosse

2.  Favorite lacrosse memory? My most memorable moments weren’t on the field. I can remember our self-named “Sideline Squad” that pulled off some impressive cheers when we’d score goals. I fondly recall bus rides with the team all singing and dancing to whatever music we’d play. I look back on the friendship and connections I made with players, coaches, parents, volunteers, and everyone else involved in the program. What I remember is the blessing this opportunity to play was.

3.  What is the easiest thing about lacrosse?  The easiest part of lacrosse was the want to play and work hard. I simply appreciated the sport and wanted to go out and play.

4.  The most difficult thing about lacrosse? The hardest thing for me was always using my off-hand. This was definitely improving as I practiced it but I would always look to use my dominant hand when I could.

5.  What you miss most about this cancelled season? I miss the memories that I didn’t get to make. I miss interactions with teammates and coaches, especially what would’ve been my last time playing with my brother. I miss playing the sport. I miss the contact. I miss the adrenaline. I miss the end of my sports career that I had anticipated. I miss every single part of the season, which makes it impossible to choose what I’m missing the most.

6.  Plans after HS? I plan to attend the University of Michigan to study political science in the fall. Afterward, I’d like to go to law school in order to reach my end goal of practicing law.
