Dow-Midland led 5-1 after one quarter and 9-4 at halftime before outscoring Okemos 6-2 in the third quarter to extend to a 15-7 advantage.

"I thought the boys came into the game with a lot of energy. I was pleased with our overall performance, especially considering that this was only our second contest,” said Dow-Midland coach Joe Stadelmaier. “We still have some things we need to work on, and I think the boys are excited and ready to get to work."

Dow-Midland won 22 of 34 faceoffs, including 14 wins by Aidan Wardell, while Wardell and Conor Dunlap combined for 12 ground balls. Evan Chronowski and Ryder Zastrow each had an assist, while Dow-Midland goalie Tat Clerc made 14 saves to earn the victory.

Dow-Midland (1-1) will open its Saginaw Valley League schedule at Bay City Central on Tuesday.
