Midland-Dow’s boys’ lacrosse season came to an end Saturday with a 16-6 loss to third-ranked Detroit Catholic Central in a Division 1 state quarterfinal.

DCC led 4-0 after one quarter and 9-2 at halftime and cruised from there.

Ryan Pomranky and Cal Stearns each scored twice for sixth-ranked Midland-Dow, while Ryan Stadelmaier and Will Kuper scored the other two goals. Pomranky and Stadelmaier each also had an assist, while goalkeeper Tate Clerc made nine saves in a losing effort.

Midland-Dow ends at 16-4 after winning a second straight regional championship.

"We actually started off good, turning DCC away on their first three possessions, but then things just seemed to slip away,” said Midland-Dow coach Joe Stadelmaier. “We made some mistakes we do not usually make, and DCC capitalized on them, and, before long, it was 9-0.

“That was a very good DCC team, and they are well-coached. They figured out how to stop us, and they had the athletes that were capable of doing it,” he added. “Our boys never gave up, and I am proud of our performance this year. We have so much to be proud of."
