Lacrosse Family:
On January 23, 2025, Haley Jarosiewicz, a 17-year-old Midland High Junior, lost her life in a car accident on M-20 in Homer Township. Hayley's mother, Becky, is engaged to Ryan Venman. It goes without saying that the family is devastated.
Ryan Venman is a long-time coach of youth lacrosse who has positively impacted the lives of so many of our young players as well as their families. He is one of the most selfless, caring and generous guys I've had the pleasure of knowing. His family is our family. His family needs our help.
We simply cannot begin to understand the true depth of Haley's loss or the void it has created in the Venman/Jarosiewicz family. We can, however, help shoulder some of the financial burden it has created, allowing Ryan and his family to grieve for Haley for as long as necessary.
I am fully aware that there is a 'Go Fund Me' account which has been created. However, I think given Ryan's extensive involvement in Midland Lacrosse, it's appropriate that we as a lacrosse family, come together, showing him that Midland Lacrosse cares and will help support his family during their time of need.
In order to raise funds to solely benefit Ryan's family, I have offered my Venmo account since the Midland Lacrosse Club cannot collect donations that are not directly related to our tax-exempt purpose of teaching lacrosse. In the interest of transparency, I will post a list of all donors (unless requested to remain anonymous), the amount donated, and the total amount of donations collected. I will also post a picture of the check issued to the Venman family, which will correspond with the amount collected. This information will be posted on the Midland Lacrosse website for all to see.
If you're not comfortable sending the money to me, please consider donating to the established Go Fund Me account. Also, if you're so inclined, take a moment to share your thoughts with Ryan and his family. Perhaps a story about lacrosse, something he's done to impact your family or player, or just a note saying that you're thinking of him.
We take care of our own in my family. I know we can do the same here.
On behalf of Midland Lacrosse, I sincerely thank you.
