Boys Varsity Lacrosse opened the 2018 season with a 8-4 loss to Canton Saturday afternoon at Midland Community Stadium. Midland trailed 5-0 at the half but rallied to score 4 goals in the second half.

Midland's head coach Kurt Brillhart commented: "Canton has several excellent offensive players that exposed some of our weaknesses early on. We didn't take advantage of our offensive opportunities and fell behind. I was glad we showed some spark in the second half, but when you're as rusty on some of the fundamentals like passing and catching as we were today you won't beat a good team like Canton."

J.P. Pokreifka made 19 saves in goal for while picking up 4 ground balls. Elliot Moore led the team with 5 ground balls and also added 2 assists. Creighton Annelin scored 2 goals, and Ben Brueck had 1 goal and 1 assist. Garrett Brillhart added 1 goal, and Jared Zahn added 1 assist.

Midland's next game is on Wednesday March 28 when they host Bay City Western at 5:30 PM at Midland Community Stadium.
