Boys Varsity Rallies to Defeat Howell 11-10 in OT

Saturday afternoon at Howell, Boys Varsity Lacrosse rallied from a two goal deficit in the final three minutes of the fouth period to send the game to overtime. In OT, Garrett Brillhart caught a pass from Jared Zahn and scored the game-winning goal to earn the victory 11-10. Zahn led Midland in scoring with 2 goals and 4 assists, and Brillhart had 3 goals and 1 assist on the day. Chase Mahabir and Michael Andriot each had 2 goals and 1 assist, and Creighton Annelin and Mason Reed both added 1 goal. Joey Cullinane won 13 of 18 faceoffs, and Jack Erickson made 6 saves in goal. Cullinane led Midland with 5 ground balls, and Ethan Richard and Zahn each had 4.

Head Coach Kurt Brillhart commented: "We were coming off a big win for the program the night before and having to continue to rely on the next man up as we've suffered an unusual number of injuries to key players. We fell behind early, but the guys showed some real perseverance and grit to come from behind there at the end and then win it overtime. I was proud of our performance."

Midland finished the regular season with 10 wins and 3 losses and will play in the first round of the playoffs on Thursday when they host Lapeer.
