Alumni of the Midland boys lacrosse high school program achieved great success at the collegiate level this spring.

Jon Jardis, who was a freshman starting attackman for Aquinas College in the spring, set a school record for assists by a freshman with 28.

Jardis also had 13 goals and 24 ground balls, and was named Co-Rookie of the Year for the Saints.

Jardis was an All-State honorable mention selection at Midland.

At Trine University (Ind.), freshman David Keptner became the first Trine player to be named MIAA Rookie of the Year.

As a defenseman, Keptner was third on the team with 29 ground balls, second with 14 caused turnovers, and added one goal and one assist.

Keptner was part of a defensive unit that allowed 5.55 goals per game, which was second in the MIAA and fifth in all of NCAA Division III.

At Clarkson University in northern New York state, former Midland player Brett Brillhart just completed his junior season at attack and midfield. He had three goals, two assists and seven ground balls.

And nearby Alma College had five Midland lacrosse alumni on the men's lacrosse team this spring.

Defenseman Ben Luzar and midfielder Austen Irrer wrapped up their collegiate lacrosse careers as seniors for the Scots, while freshmen defenseman Sam Luzar, attackman Quinton Bortel and defenseman Pietro Fin played their first season for Alma.

Irrer had 11 goals, seven assists and 12 ground balls this season to lead the group from Midland at Alma.

Vi Lobo had 2 goals and 1 assist as a freshman at Kenyon, and Tanner Diment had 4 goals, 2 assists, 147 gbs, and 217 f/o wins as a senior at Wilmington.

Caroline Milholland had 13 gbs and 9 caused turnovers in her freshman season at Hope. Mallory Fogus finished her senior season at Hanover with 49 goals and 13 assists!
